Volunteer Opportunities

Animal Care
Can you spare two hours a week? The shelter always needs animal care volunteers. Volunteers work during the shelter's visiting hours (see hours at bottom of page) to feed the cats and dogs, clean the cages, launder bedding, and walk the dogs. We also try to make sure all the animals get love and attention while we're there.

Please e-mail us at volunteers@mansfieldshelter.org and someone will contact you.

You can also print and fill out the volunteer application (PDF format) and bring it to the shelter.

You must be at least 16 years old to volunteer.
Young people under 16, see our Kids for Critters page.

Fundraising
We also need creative, energetic individuals to help with fundraising and special events. Do you have a talent for organizing fundraisers or working at events?  Do you have experience writing grant proposals?  Do you love animals? If so, the Mansfield Animal Shelter and the Mansfield Shelter Friends, Inc. need you!

Wish List

The Mansfield Animal Shelter is staffed by volunteers and funded by donations. We are grateful for every dollar you give.

Items we can use:

  • Volunteers to help with the animals and fundraising

  • Special people who will adopt our residents into their homes

  • Your tax-deductible donations to Mansfield Shelter Friends

  • Unopened bags or cans of Iams "Mini Chunks" dog food, and Iams "Weight Control" cat food. Because of the reduced activity level of shelter life, we use weight control food for the cats. We try to feed the animals only one brand of food so they don't get upset stomachs.

  • Laundry detergent: ONLY "he" (high efficiency) for front-loading heavy duty machines

  • Dish soap, paper towels, bleach, sponges, Purell hand sanitizers (pump bottle)

  • Non-Toxic spray cleaner: "Sun & Earth"

  • Kitty litter (NON clumping)

  • Plastic litter pans

  • Printer ink cartridge: Brother LC51BK Black Ink

  • NO toys, thank you. We already have more than enough.

Thanks to the generosity of people like you, we have enough blankets and towels and toys. Thank you!!
