How You Can Help

Donate to Give Shelter Animals Medical Care

Mansfield Shelter Friends, Inc. is a non-profit organization dedicated to raising money for the care of animals at the Mansfield Animal Shelter. Since the Town of Mansfield does not pay for veterinary expenses, Mansfield Shelter Friends uses donations and adoption fees to cover animals' medical expenses.

You can print a Donation Form and mail your donation to the address below, or contribute through Pay Pal.

Volunteer Opportunities

Animal Care Volunteers
The shelter is a volunteer led organization, and we can almost always use  volunteers who can commit to helping on a regular basis. Volunteers are assigned a weekly shift during the shelter's visiting hours. (See hours at bottom of page.) There are also volunteering opportunities on weekday mornings with the cats.

Volunteers feed the cats and dogs, clean the cages and litter boxes, launder bedding, walk the dogs, clean the shelter, and socialize the animals.  We expect all volunteers to help with  the cleaning tasks, since keeping the entire facility clean is vital to providing a healthy environment for the pets and their caretakers, and is also very time consuming. In addition, we want to make sure all the animals get love and attention while we're there.

We ask for a minimum commitment of three months. All volunteers must be at least 16 years old . . . no exceptions. (Underage children, even if accompanied by an adult, are not eligible to volunteer.)

If you are interested in volunteering, please e-mail: volunteers@mansfieldshelter.org. You can also print and fill out the volunteer application (PDF format) (2 sides) and bring it to the shelter. We will review your application to determine if there is a match between the hours you are available and our current openings.

You must be at least 16 years old to volunteer.
Young people under 16, see our Kids for Critters page.

Fundraising Volunteers
We need creative, energetic individuals to help with fundraising and special events. If you have interest and initiative for organizing or participating in fundraisers, please email msf@mansfieldshelter.org.

Pet Memorial Garden

Pet owners who would like to honor their pets can do so through the Pet Memorial Garden at the shelter. Rocks in the garden are inscribed with the pet's name. Click the link above for photos and more information.

Amusement for Shelter Cats

Even if you can't adopt a cat at this time, you can still make their time in a shelter cage happier, and provide exercise for caged cats. Donate "cat scratchers" by placing an order through the link below, and bringing the cat scratchers to the shelter.

A group of shelter volunteers paid for these mini scratching posts so that every cat cage in the shelter would have one. The scratchers were so successful, and so enjoyed by the cats, that the scratchers have been scratched to shreds and it's time to replace them.
